MEMS

Ever wondered how a Wii senses motion and orientation? How modern-day cameras cancel out small vibrations and movements? How pico-projectors in smartphones work? How miniaturized sensors measure the pressure in car tires?
At the basis of all these applications is one generic technology: MEMS or Micro Electro-Mechanical Systems. An incredibly versatile technology that has enabled many of today’s innovative products. A technology that also may empower your company’s future products.
Discover this exciting technology, and the extensive MEMS expertise in Flanders at the workshop:
MEMS: state-of-the-art and application domains in Flanders
January 20th at imec, Kapeldreef 75, 3001 Leuven
The program of the workshop is designed to bring you up to speed on MEMS technology and to show you where to find expertise in Flanders.
Our keynote speaker, Henne Van Heere , will present the current state-of-the-art in MEMS.
Next, companies such as ICsense, ON Semiconductor, Melexis, XenICs and Barco will talk about their expertise and activities in this field. This includes designing and fabricating MEMS, and building full application systems and supporting electronics.
In addition, we now have a Flemish technology platform for processing MEMS directly on top of the driving and read-out electronics. This allows for very compact, fast, and accurate systems. The platform will be presented by the partners in the SBO project Gemini: imec, KUL and UGent. They will showcase results of three demonstrators fabricated on this platform: micro-mirrors for displays, diffractive gratings and accelerometers.
Last, you can learn how your company can get on this fast-moving train. There will be an IWT-expert talking about the funding possibilities. And the COHESI initiative will guide your company to find the correct partners for bringing your ideas to reality.
