ASIC service

With its imec ASIC services, imec offers an ASIC design, prototyping and small-volume production service. The design services team helps imec’s customers to make their ASIC production-ready.

For more than 550 European universities and 100 research institutes, and with support of the FP7 project Europractice IC5, imec provides technical support.

In addition, the designs of several customers–universities or private companies–are collected on a single mask set and manufactured on a small volume of wafers. These multi-project wafer (MPW) runs allow sharing the expensive mask costs. In 2010, customers submitted around 550 designs to MPW runs through imec.

Imec also helps its customers to select the right technology for their future products through its Technology Targeting Service.
